CeMEB Genetic for Dummies

10th May 2012, 09.30 - 16.00, Tjärnö

We started with some brief introductory presentations, on issues like:

  • How to use genetics to describe population structures and demographies
  • Is it possible to link phenotype and genotype, and why is this of interest
  • Why sequence the whole genome of a species? And what different approaches can be used?

This was followed by informal discussions and explanations.

Conveners: Kerstin Johannesson, Carl André and Marina Panova

Presentations:

Population genetics - an overview, Kerstin Johannesson

Genetic methods in Marine Evolutionary Biology, Carl André

Identifying the genetic background of phenotypic traits, Marina Panova
