Our overall vision is to radically advance the understanding of how marine populations and species evolve under new environmental conditions. We focus on evolutionary processes that respond to rapid changes in direction and strength of selection; such changes being characteristic of current global change processes. This understanding is essential for the measures that society needs to take, if we are to avoid the loss of vital products and services from the marine ecosystems.

Research for the future!

"Our research delivers urgently needed understanding of how marine organisms adapt to environmental changes over spatial and temporal scales relevant to current processes of global change."

Kerstin Johannesson, Director for the Linnaeus Centre for Marine Evolutionary Biology.
