About the contest...

The CeMEB Photo Contest is initiated by Emma Berdan, postdoc in CeMEB, and organized together with Pierre De Wit and Olga Ortega-Martinez.

The competition is open for both researchers and the public, and one of the aims with the contest is to create meeting places between academia and the public. Therefore, there will be open galleries both at the Aquarium at the Lovén centre Tjärnö and in the shopping mall Nordstan, Gothenburg, during Västerhavsveckan 2016.

The ambition is that this will be a yearly event, so keep your eyes open for next call in 2017! Maybe you will be the next winner!

In 2016 we had the following categories:

  • Nature/Marine Ecosystems
  • Beyond the naked eye
  • Scientists/Future Scientists at work
  • IMAGO species

The prizes 2016 are kindly granted by the Hans G. Hansson's memorial Fund.

Hans G. Hansson was a marine biologist and one of our country's leading taxonomic experts in marine fauna. He worked for most of his life at Tjärnö Marine Biological Laboratory outside Strömstad (today also known as the Lovén Centre-Tjärnö).
